Is BreedLens AI free to use?
Yes! BreedLens AI is free to download with 5 scans per day, 3 AI messages per day, 3 food checks per day, full breed encyclopedia access, and full AI breed analysis. The free version includes ads. Subscribe to BreedLens AI PRO for unlimited everything, AI photo detection, health analytics, vet appointment manager, symptom checker, breed comparison, emergency cards, care schedules with milestones, Google Drive backup, and an ad-free experience.
What breeds can BreedLens AI identify?
BreedLens AI can identify over 213 dog breeds and 71+ cat breeds (284+ total), including purebreds, mixed breeds, puppies, and kittens. Our Google Gemini AI is continuously improving.
Does BreedLens AI require an internet connection?
Yes, an internet connection is required for breed scanning and AI features, as all users (free and PRO) use cloud-based Google Gemini AI for breed identification. The breed encyclopedia can be browsed offline.
Are my pet photos stored on your servers?
No. Photos sent for AI analysis are processed in real-time and never permanently stored on any server. Scan history is stored locally on your device. If you enable Google Drive backup, compressed photos are stored in your personal Google Drive (only accessible by BreedLens AI).
Scanning & Identification
How do I get the best breed identification results?
For best results: Ensure good lighting, take a clear photo showing the full body or face, avoid blurry images, photograph from eye level, and make sure the animal is the main subject in the frame.
Can BreedLens AI identify mixed breeds?
Yes! BreedLens AI analyzes mixed breed dogs and cats, showing a breed mix chart with possible breed combinations and confidence percentages. Mixed breed analysis is approximate based on visual characteristics.
How accurate is the breed identification?
BreedLens AI uses Google Gemini AI for high-accuracy results, but identification is based on visual analysis and should be treated as an estimate. Accuracy depends on photo quality, lighting, and the animal's appearance. For definitive breed identification, consider a DNA test.
What is the food safety scanner?
The food safety scanner lets you check if specific foods are safe for your dog or cat. It covers 507+ foods with clear ratings: Safe, Caution, Dangerous, or Deadly. You can search by name or scan food with your camera. Free users get 3 checks per day; PRO users get unlimited checks.

What is the Pet Care Dashboard?
The dashboard is a comprehensive 4-tab pet management hub: Overview (quick stats), Health (weight tracking, poop logs, health analytics), Breed Intel (breed-specific information), and Tools (emergency cards, care schedules, comparison). Create pet profiles and track everything in one place.
How does the Symptom Checker work?
The symptom checker (PRO) lets you input your pet's symptoms with severity and duration. It uses AI to provide breed-specific guidance on urgency level and possible causes. Important: This is NOT a substitute for professional veterinary diagnosis. Always consult your vet for health concerns.
What is Breed Comparison?
Breed Comparison (PRO) lets you compare two breeds side-by-side with animated trait bars across energy, trainability, shedding, child-friendliness, and 10+ more traits. Great for choosing between breeds.
What are Emergency Cards?
Emergency Cards (PRO) are beautifully designed, shareable pet info cards with your pet's photo, name, breed, vital details, allergies, medications, and vet contact. Share them with pet sitters, family, or keep on your phone for emergencies.
What is AI Photo Detection?
AI Photo Detection (PRO) lets you snap a photo of your pet's meal, poop, or weight scale, and Gemini AI automatically detects what it is and logs it — no manual entry needed. It works with the pet care dashboard to auto-track feeding, poop patterns (Bristol scale), and weight.
What is Health Analytics?
Health Analytics provides a Pet Parent Score (0-100) based on your care activity — feeding streaks, weight trend analysis, poop pattern tracking, and actionable health insights. See how well you're caring for your pet and get suggestions to improve.
How does the Vet Appointment Manager work?
The Vet Appointment Manager (PRO) lets you schedule and manage vet appointments with a 5-tier smart reminder system: 1 week before, 3 days before, 1 day before, 2 hours before, and 30 minutes before. Never miss a vet visit again.
How do Care Schedules & Milestones work?
Care Schedules (PRO) provide breed-specific reminders for feeding, grooming, vaccinations, and vet visits tailored to your pet's breed and age. Milestones track your pet's growth journey and celebrate achievements.
Google Drive Backup
How does Google Drive backup work?
BreedLens AI offers optional Google Drive backup to preserve your pet data across devices. Sign in with your Google account, and 10 data categories — pet profiles, scan history, care logs, AI chat sessions, food history, vet appointments, food schedules, milestones, photos, and preferences — are backed up to a hidden app folder in your Google Drive. PRO users get automatic sync.
Is my backup data private?
Yes. Backup data is stored in Google Drive's hidden appDataFolder — only BreedLens AI can access it. It is not visible in your regular Google Drive files. You can delete all backup data anytime from within the app or by revoking BreedLens AI access in your Google Account settings.
Can I restore my data on a new device?
Yes! Sign in with the same Google account on your new device and restore from backup. All your pet profiles, scan history, care logs, and photos will be restored.
What is included in the backup?
Backups include 10 data categories: pet profiles, scan history, feeding/health/weight logs, AI chat sessions, food check history, vet appointments, food schedules, milestones, pet photos (compressed), and user preferences. Subscription status, daily usage counters, and notification tracking are NOT included.

Is there a free trial?
Yes! All plans include a free trial. Weekly has a 3-day trial, while Monthly and Yearly have 7-day trials. Try BreedLens AI PRO risk-free and cancel anytime during the trial at no charge.
How do I subscribe to BreedLens AI PRO?
Open BreedLens AI, tap the PRO banner or go to Settings, and follow the prompts to subscribe through Google Play or App Store.
Can I switch between subscription plans?
Yes! You can change your plan anytime through your app store subscription settings. Changes take effect at your next billing cycle.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On Android: Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → BreedLens AI → Cancel. On iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → BreedLens AI → Cancel. Note: Uninstalling does NOT cancel your subscription.
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
Sign in with the same Google/Apple account and go to Settings > Restore Purchases. Your PRO access will be restored automatically.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Google Play or Apple App Store according to their policies. Contact them directly for refund requests.
Troubleshooting
The app won't open or keeps crashing
Try: Restart the app, restart your device, update to the latest version from the app store, clear app cache (Settings > Apps > BreedLens AI > Clear Cache), or reinstall the app.
I'm still seeing ads after subscribing
Make sure you're signed into the same Google/Apple account. Go to Settings > Restore Purchases. Check your internet connection. If issues persist, contact support.
The camera is not working
Make sure you have granted camera permission to BreedLens AI. Go to your device Settings > Apps > BreedLens AI > Permissions > Camera and enable it.
Breed identification seems inaccurate
Try taking a clearer photo with better lighting, showing the full body or face. Ensure the animal is the main subject. Mixed breeds may show multiple possible matches. For definitive identification, consider a DNA test.
My scan history or pet data is lost
Data is stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the app or clear data, it will be lost. To protect against data loss, enable Google Drive backup in Settings — your data will be automatically backed up and can be restored on any device.
Google Drive backup is not working
Make sure you are signed in with your Google account in the app. Check your internet connection. Ensure you have sufficient Google Drive storage. PRO users enjoy automatic sync; free users can back up manually.
